Resource Innovations is in the process of developing a guide for rural communities interested in using biomass as an economical and sustainable fuel source to heat schools, hospitals and other community facilities.

Due out in June 2008, the guide will include:

  • Overview of steps to a biomass heat project.
  • Description of the benefits and challenges to biomass applications.
  • Resources for technical assistance and project funding.
  • Case studies from the Pacific Northwest.
    • Case Study: Tillamook Forest Center
    • Case Study: Harney County Hospital
    • Case Study: Enterprise School District
    • Case Study: Crook County Schools
