Resource Innovations is engaged in efforts throughout the region to promote economic development that meets social and ecological objectives. Forest biomass generated as byproduct from restoration projects and fuels reduction work presents opportunities for the production of value added products and sustainable fuel sources.

Through applied research, education and outreach, Resource Innovations works to develop these opportunities. Currently we are working on the following projects:

Wood Heat Solutions: Community Guide to Biomass Thermal Projects

Resource Innovations recently published a guide for rural communities interested in using biomass to fuel boilers to heat schools, hospitals and other community facilities. The guide includes several case studies from the Pacific Northwest.
